UltraCruz® Equine Magnesium Plus Supplement for Horses

UltraCruz® Equine Magnesium Plus Supplement for Horses is a palatable, pelleted source of magnesium for horses that may need additional supplementation to their diet. Magnesium (Mg) is an essential mineral that horses require for a multitude of different reasons. It serves as an electrolyte in blood, plays a role in protein synthesis, and is found in hundreds of enzyme reactions. It is also needed for optimal muscle contractions and nerve functions. Horses with low levels of magnesium in their diet may experience muscle pain, work intolerance or fatigue, anxiety/nervousness, hypersensitive skin, irregular heartbeat or tying up. With its effect on so many things, Magnesium is especially important for growing or heavily exercised horses.

Magnesium works closely with calcium to maintain proper muscle function and help enable muscle relaxation. This in turn can support recovery and help ease muscle pain and cramping experienced by horses in heavy training. Promoting the absorption of calcium from the diet, magnesium also helps support healthy bones and growth.

Since a symptom of magnesium deficiency is anxiety or nervousness, horses may also experience a calming effect from being supplemented magnesium.

UltraCruz® Equine Magnesium Plus Supplement for Horses contains both Magnesium Citrate and Magnesium Oxide, inorganic forms of magnesium that have been shown to have absorption rates around 70%.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Miracle Product I recently bought a 6 year old, professionally trained reined. She was great in the arena until anything, and I mean anything, was different outside of the arena; people walking by, a truck driving by on a nearby road, a neighbor working in their yard. She would fixate on whatever was different and be almost unresponsive. She would bolt if a bird or rabbit jumped up near her and pace in her pen for most of the day. She was so bad that she wore through a set of new shoes in four weeks to the point where they broke off of her feet--not the clenches, the actual shoes broke in pieces. A friend suggested the Ultra Cruz magnesium supplement. After feeding the Ultra Cruz for two weeks, my mare has almost stopped pacing, she no longer spooks, she is attentive and doesn't fixate on outside stimuli, and has a softness in her eye. She is now a joy to ride.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Horses eat it. I bought this along with the B1 vitamin because my horse was explosive and I tried a similar calming supplement with these ingredients and it calmed him. I bought this magnesium product because I can give more or less depending on my horse's craziness. This product is also by far cheaper in price to the one I tried. I gave it to another horse and he ate it too. Definitely will purchase again

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well for my ponies! I have been giving this to my pony stallion who came to me, much to my surprise, as borderline insulin resistant. That was nearly 11 years ago. Combined with exercise, he has been very healthy and not needed the drugs that the former owner had given him.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Calmed my 2yo I bought this a few months ago and used the entire bag. My horse was spooky and jumpy, the reason I got it after he dumped me and broke my arm. After being on it for about a week, he settled down. While on it, he was more of a thinker and less of a reactor. He also had a muscle tremor and that went away as well. And tacking him up he would get so nervous and sink his back in when the saddle or saddle pad came near. He was checked by a vet and chiro so nothing was wrong. Nonetheless I put him on this and he changed. He’s a coming three year so some of those tendencies we expected but they were explosive and consistent until he was on this. I have since taken him off just to see. He’s back to being spooky and nervous at tacking up. Hes not as explosive, so I’m sure some of it was being a colt but he now is going back on it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Working well for picky mare I recently purchased the Magnesium from Santa Cruz and am so glad I did. I had previously tried a different brand and my mare would not finish her grain, and as soon as I ran out she started eating everything again. With the UltraCruz she is eating everything. The bag is huge and a great value as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy with the product My horse has been on this product for about 3 weeks and I am happy with the results! He seems to eat it just fine, which is a great bonus. I was switching him off of a different magnesium product and I’m happy to see that he seems on par with or maybe even more relaxed mentally.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from magnesium pellets a success My very picky mare eats this like a champ which is almost unbelievable. Shes a headshaker so trying to get it is important to get enough magnesium in her diet. The fact that it is pelleted rather then powder helps because she will not eat wet mushy feed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Palatable! Huge difference in nervousness My gelding was acting jumpy and touchier than usual this past spring. We introduced magnesium once a day and his skin isn’t so sensitive and he’s much more relaxed. Sounds don’t seem to bother him as much either. Really seems to have calmed him down.
