UltraCruz® Equine Probiotic Supplement for Horses

  • Diverse range of beneficial microorganisms
  • Highly concentrated CFU (Colony Forming Units)
  • Prebiotics for additional microflora support
  • For use in horses and weaned foals
  • Now in an easy-to-use pellet form

Each horse has a unique intestinal microflora, and as such, will have unique needs for different probiotic species. It is difficult to determine which microbial species are most needed for each horse, therefore, UltraCruz® Equine Probiotic Supplement for Horses is formulated to contain a highly concentrated, comprehensive collection of key Probiotics and Prebiotics to help maintain digestive health in horses and weaned foals. This probiotic supplement contains some of the highest levels available on the equine market of 6 different microbial strains: Enterococcus faecium, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus plantarum, and Saccharomyces cerevisiae.

UltraCruz® Equine Probiotic Supplement for Horses may be especially beneficial to help maintain digestive health during stressful events or changes in diet. An imbalance of intestinal flora can impact weight gain or loss. Some microbial strains have been shown to improve weight loss while others benefit weight gain; however, the proper balance for one horse may not be the same as the next. UltraCruz® Equine Probiotic Supplement for Horses was formulated to contain a diverse range of proven microbial strains to help ensure that your horse's needs are met. Provided in easy-to-use pellet or powder forms.

Prebiotics are sources of non-digestible, soluble fiber that serve as food for Probiotics, also known as the "good bugs", to help increase the number of beneficial bacteria present in the large intestine.

For additional gastrointestinal support we suggest UltraCruz® Equine Bio-Absorb Supplement for Horses.

Also provided in paste form: UltraCruz® Equine Probiotic Paste Supplement for Horses

Pellet vs. Powder Supplement Formulations

Most UltraCruz® Equine Supplements are now available in pelletized formulations. By using pellets, rather than powder, we have been able to:

  • Ensure stability of active ingredients
  • Maximize product freshness
  • Reduce waste

All San Juan Ranch performance and breeding horses use UltraCruz® Equine pelletized products.

The UltraCruz® Equine Probiotic pellets has replaced the powder version of the probiotic I used to use on a daily use. Feel like it's more beneficial because she eats more of the pellet than she did the powder.

Our daughter purchased a barrel racing horse and began rehabbing him in May. We agreed to help her. Following vet orders, the horse was put on Purina senior feed for the first month and a half after which we switched him off of to try our local feed plus the Santa Cruz (UltraCruz) probiotic supplement to better fit the dietary needs of this horse. Thanks for such a great product! We tell all our horse friends about how this simple supplement has helped make a tremendous difference in our feeding program.

Jennifer

Love the way UltraCruz® Equine Probiotic has worked for my 2 horses. Feel it has definitely improved their over all health. They both seem to like it and clean up every bit of it. Will buy this again and will definitely buy it from Santa Cruz Animal Health.

All three horses at our barn were having loose stools and the “runs”. Our hay source is constantly changing, and we figured that the problem was caused by this. Within a week of putting all three on UltraCruz® Equine Probiotic, issues have resolved and things seem back to normal. Since we have to get hay from wherever available, we plan to keep the horses on this supplement, which is more effective than any other we’ve tried. Thanks Santa Cruz Animal Health!

I am considering the power probiotic. I have a picky eater in the herd. Is the powered as palatable as the pellets?

Asked by: Brianna
Hello! For picky eaters, we recommend the pellets. The are alfalfa-based and very tasty!

Is it ok to feed 1/2 scoop AM and PM instead of giving the full scoop at one feeding?

Asked by: joyw
Hello! There won't be any issues by feeding that way, but it is recommended to feed just once a day.

As I soak my grain for my elderly horse, is it ok that this probiotic powder is dissolved in warm/hot water with the grain? Is the efficiency affected by doing this?

Asked by: Randhill
Hello! There should be no problems mixing this powder with warm water to let it dissolve.

My naturopath says that probiotics need to be refrigerated in order to remain active. Why do your probiotics not need to be refrigerated? How do I know they stay active?

Asked by: Andrea
Hello, The strains in this product are specific to the digestive system. These particular strains are able to survive the extremes of the digestive tract, meaning they can survive normal temperatures outside of a refrigerator. It is recommended, however, to keep the bag in a cool, dry area out of sunlight.

I’ve heard that for probiotics that are made into pellets lose a lot of their potency during the process of being cooked and formed into pellets. And that for probiotics powder is the more viable/potent  way to go.  Is that true?

Asked by: Hillybug
Hello there! We ran testing on this pelleted form and it actually has more bio-available microflora than the powder! Loose powders, like the UltraCruz Probiotic, can sometimes be hard to eat for horses, or they are picky eaters and won't eat it. The pelleted form is more palatable, and therefore better for picky horses!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome product! Hi! Just a little testimony to how well your products works out here in the real world with every day people. The pictures I'm sending are of a barrel racing horse our daughter purchased and began rehabbing in May. We agreed to help her. Following vet orders, the horse was put on purina senior feed for the first month and a half after which we switched him off of to try our local feed plus the Santa Cruz probiotic supplement to better fit the dietary needs of this horse. Amazing difference in how quickly the muscle mass recovered compared to the other feed! Thanks for such a great product! We tell all our horse friends about how this simple supplement has made such a tremendous difference in our feeding program.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hopefully Optimistic I got this probiotic from Ultra Cruz because we have been using their B1 supplement in a different horse and are pleased with the results. My horse was having a terrible problem with gas as the pasture grass died out and we started to feed more hay. We did change her feed from beet pulp and alfalfa to regular pellet feed and we soak the feed and the hay.. We can't change the hay as we have over 200 bales of it. This probiotic has slowly started to make a difference. She seems more comfortable, less cranky and less gassy. It's not a drastic or magical change, but we're keeping fingers crossed that it will continue to improve her gut health and happiness. It certainly won't hurt her any.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Product I ran out of my former probiotic and switched to this because it was readily available. I have a 28+ year-old rescue Appendix who had loose "cow patties" for the entire year we've had him. He wasn't eating his food and his weight (he was quite skinny, no teeth, and diagnosed with PPID) wasn't going up. Since starting on the UltraCruz pellets a month ago, his loose manure resolved within days, he is eating ALL of his meals and now his weight is starting to pick up. He has more energy and overall seems happier and healthier. It looks like I will continue this product for all of my horses.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from jury is still out I've had my horse on this probiotic for about 60 days and will continue for now. I can't say for sure if it's helping at this point and want to give it every chance. When he passes gas there is a liquid component that ends up making his hind end very messy. Trying this to see if he can be firmed up. The last few days I think he's been better, so I will keep trying and let you know in the next month or two.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the Probiotics! I have been using the probiotics on my 2 Endurance horses for the last 7 months. My first race and before the probiotics, my mare scored all C's on gut sounds at all vet checks. Sad. So, I started feeding the SCAH probiotics. Next race B's and A's! Now all A's and one horse even earned High Vet score on his 3rd race! I am a true believer in the benefit of the probiotics!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Glad my horses eat the pellets I had tried the powder in the past and it was a no go for all horses, no one liked it. The pellets are a hit. I currently have 4 horses on the probiotics. One gets year round. The other 3 were on antibiotics and this is my favorite go to probiotic because I know they'll eat it and it's better than other probiotics offered. That's really important when they are on antibiotics. No use giving something they won't eat or isn't a good product. I like that the pellet process is supposed to help keep the integrity of the probiotics unlike powder where the strength can weaken once opened.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from 4 horses would not eat it I normally purchase the pelleted formula but it was back ordered so I bought the powder. None of the horses would eat it. I put the powder in the horses' breakfast and by dinner time they had not eaten any of the food. I put some of the powder in a guaranteed hearty eater and he left most of his feed. It doesn't matter if I like the price of the product if they don't eat it. Everyone eats the pelleted formula, unfortunately not the powdered formula.
