Clavamox® is the only potentiated penicillin approved for veterinary use in dogs and cats.
Clavamox® Drops are an oral antibiotic suspension that combines two highly effective active ingredients: Amoxicillin, a broad spectrum antibiotic effective against many gram-positive and gram-negative organisms, and Clavulanic Acid, an inhibitor of β-lactamase enzymes which extends the antimicrobial spectrum of Amoxicillin to include organisms resistant to Amoxicillin and other β-lactam antibiotics.
This oral suspension is recommended for the treatment of the following skin and soft tissue infections:
In dogs:
- Wounds
- Abscesses
- Cellulitis
- Superficial pyoderma
- Deep pyoderma
In cats:
- Wounds
- Abscesses
- Cellulitis
- Dermatitis
In addition, Clavamox® Drops are indicated for the treatment of periodontal infections in dogs and urinary tract infections in cats.
Clavamox® Drops require reconstitution with water prior to administration. Each mL of suspension will contain 50 mg of Amoxicillin and 12.5 mg of Clavulanic Acid. Refrigerate any unused portion of the reconstituted suspension; discard after 10 days. Clavamox® Drops contain a semisynthetic penicillin and therefore have the potential to cause allergic reactions. Do not use in animals with a history of allergic reactions to any of the penicillins or cephalosporins. Safety of use in pregnant or breeding animals has not been determined.
Supplied as a single 15 mL bottle.
