Drontal^® for Cats

Drontal® for cats is a broad spectrum dewormer for control of tapeworms, roundworms, and hookworms in cats and kittens. Drontal® tablets are safe for use in kittens over 1 month age and 1.5 lbs.

This feline dewormer contains the active ingredients pyrantel pamoate and praziquantel, and has an excellent safety profile with very few side effects reported. These active ingredients work together to cause spasms and paralysis of the parasites. The parasites are either completely destroyed in the intestine or excreted in the pet's feces.

Drontal® tablets are scored for easy breakage and may be administered directly into the mouth, or with a small amount of food.

Ingredients: Drontal® for cats contains 18.2 mg praziquantel and 72.6 mg pyrantel base as pyrantel pamoate.

Indications: Drontal® for cats is for control of Tapeworms (Dipylidium caninum, Taenia taeniaeformis), Hookworms (Ancylostoma tubaeforme), and Large Roundworms (Toxocara cati) in cats and kittens.

Dosage and Administration: Administer one tablet Drontal® for cats per 4-8 lbs. body weight. Give directly by mouth or offered in a small amount of food. Do not withhold food from the cat prior to or after treatment. Not for use in kittens less than one month of age or weighing less than 1.5 lbs.

Storage: Store at controlled room temperatures between 59-86°F (15-30°C).

Caution: Keep Out of Reach of Children. Consult your veterinarian before administering to sick or pregnant animals. Cats treated with 10 times the highest recommended Drontal® Tablet dosage during safety studies showed signs of vomition and salivation without other adverse effects. Eighty-three of 85 cats treated with the recommended dosages of Drontal® Tablets in a clinical field study did not exhibit any drug related side effects. A temporary loss of appetite was reported for one cat and transient loose stools were observed in a second cat.
