Equioxx^® (Firocoxib) Oral Paste Syringe

Equine osteoarthritis is a chronic degenerative disease that affects the bones and soft tissue of the joints.

Otherwise known as degenerative joint disease (DJD), this condition can cause pain, inflammation and reduced mobility in horses. Arthritis can affect any equine joint, though it occurs most frequently in the carpus, fetlock, stifle and hock. Equine osteoarthritis can be caused by injury, conformation, age and improper shoeing and may lead to lameness, stiffness and decreased activity. Unfortunately, there is no cure for equine osteoarthritis, but there is Equioxx® Oral Paste.

Equioxx® Oral Paste is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to manage pain and inflammation due to equine osteoarthritis. This product contains the active ingredient firocoxib and is formulated to inhibit cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), an enzyme that promotes inflammation and pain. By inhibiting COX-2, Equioxx® Oral Paste helps alleviate pain and inflammation associated with arthritis in horses.

Each syringe contains 6.93 grams of Equioxx® Oral Paste, sufficient to treat a 1250 lb horse. The safe use of Equioxx® Oral Paste in horses less than 1 year of age, horses used for breeding, or in pregnant or lactating mares has not been determined.
