Pneumabort-K® + 1b is an equine rhinopneumonitis vaccine for the vaccination of healthy horses and foals 9 months of age and older as an aid in the prevention of respiratory disease caused by equine herpesvirus 1p (EHV-1p) and equine herpesvirus 1b (EHV-1b). In addition, Pneumabort-K® + 1b is for use as an aid in the prevention of abortion due to EHV-1 infections in pregnant mares.
Pneumabort-K® + 1b is recommended for whole-herd management including geldings, stallions, and mares where there is evidence of EHV-1 in the herd. It contains killed viruses and does not require reconstitution prior to administration. For young horses, Pneumabort-K® + 1b should be administered intramuscularly, with a second dose in 3-4 weeks. Revaccinate with a single dose 6 months after the second primary dose, and annually thereafter. For pregnant mares, Pneumabort-K® + 1b should be administered intramuscularly during the 5th, 7th and 9th months of pregnancy. Revaccinate annually at the 5th, 7th and 9th months of pregnancy.
Supplied as either a single dose syringe (with needle) or 10 dose bottle (needles and syringes sold separately).
