Regu-Mate® is used to conveniently suppress estrus in mares, control the time that estrus starts, and shorten prolonged estrus. Suppression of estrus allows for a predictable occurrence of estrus following drug withdrawal, which permits scheduled breeding of mares during the breeding season. This synthetic progesterone hormone also helps mares achieve regular cyclicity during the transition period from winter anestrus to the physiological breeding season. Regu-Mate® contains the active ingredient altrenogest in a liquid solution which is administered orally or added to the mare's feed. Do not use Regu-Mate® in mares with a previous or current history of uterine inflammation. Women who are pregnant or suspect they are pregnant should not handle Regu-Mate®. A veterinarian's prescription is required for purchase.
