When administered daily, Solitude IGR™ helps significantly reduce house and stable fly populations.

Not only are flies annoying, but they can also spread disease and cause pain to your horse. Breaking the fly life cycle with an IGR (insect growth regulator) is one way to effectively control these harmful pests around your barn. Solitude IGR™ is an equine feed-through fly preventative that provides continuous fly control and dramatically reduces house fly and stable fly populations.

Solitude IGR™ contains the active ingredient cyromazine, an insect growth regulator that is species-specific to house flies and stable flies. After a horse consumes cyromazine, it is excreted in the manure where house and stable flies lay their eggs to develop into larvae. As maggots feed on the manure, cyromazine prevents them from successfully developing into adult flies, therefore killing the immature flies. Within 4-6 weeks, the overall fly population is significantly reduced as existing adult flies die off. Studies have shown Solitude IGR™ to be 100% effective against house fly larvae and 99.5% effective against stable fly larvae, without effecting horses, other mammals or beneficial insects.

Solitude IGR - CD Diamond and Whiz N Spark's colt in a field

For optimum fly control, conventional pesticide sprays or fly baits should still be used to control existing adult fly populations and migratory adult flies coming from neighboring areas. Solitude IGR™ is an alfalfa-based, pelleted formula safe for use in all horses, including pregnant mares, stallions, foals and minis, as well as donkeys and mules. Regardless of age or weight, mix 1 (0.5 oz) scoop daily into your horse's ration. To maximize product effectiveness, horses should be fed individually, not in groups.

Supplied as either a 6 lb or 20 lb bucket of pellets. One 6 lb bucket contains 192 doses, and one 20 lb bucket contains 640 doses.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is working for us!I switched to this based on other reviews. I do think it works better than the other feed through products that I've tried. In Florida we never have a long enough winter to be rid of flies so we have to use this year round. Don't be discouraged if you're using a feed through for the first time. It can take from 2 to 3 weeks to see a difference so be patient. You may need to use a premise spray for a while until the existing flies die. . . Worth trying for sure !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is the best fly control available! This is the best feed through fly preventative because it works! The thing I really like about it is it goes through the horse into the manure and is not absorbed into the horse's system like some of the cheaper feed throughs. My barn is rather close to my house so it's important to me to not have flies. I also like the fact that you don't have to measure, every horse gets the same size measure. I must admit though, I do feed my 300# donkey a little bit less. LOL

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works!!I heard about Solitude IGR after fly season had already started this year. I started my horses on it 3 weeks ago and hardly see an adult fly around my ranch now. Well worth the cost. My horses have stopped stomping and aren't getting eaten up with flies anymore!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best product of its kindSuperior larva development inhibitor. Though a little more expensive per serving than other brands, the results are better - maybe the environment or some other factor makes it work better on my farm than similar products

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This one really works!Flies are a way of life in Florida and a constant battle! Predators didn't work and neither did the other brand of feed through fly control! I ran out of Solitude IGR in November and thought I'd take a chance that I wouldn't need it through the winter. I was wrong! The flies are back with a vengeance. I just ordered again. . . This product really works!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No more flies! This product has really helped cut down the fly load on our 40 acre ranch. We use speed through fly control for a cattle and found out it really helped, so started our horses on it also. Will never be without it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great productJust started using this product this spring; in previous years I used another type of larval growth inhibitor. For the first time, face flies have not been a major problem! I am sold on this product.
