UltraCruz® Equine Electrolyte Plus Supplement for Horses is a comprehensive blend of important macro and micro minerals designed to restore electrolyte levels in horses after vigorous exercise or during hot weather. Horses lose electrolytes during work, mainly in the form of sweat. A horse that sweats a lot during hot weather or exercise is at risk for a negative electrolyte balance because of the substantial mineral loss that can occur. Supplementing electrolytes helps replenish electrolytes lost during strenuous exercise, supports muscle development and post-exercise recovery, and may also promote proper hydration by stimulating thirst.

Sodium is critical for normal nerve and muscle function as well as transport of many substances, such as glucose, across cell membranes. There is very little Sodium in forages and grains, and horses in intensive work or exposed to hot weather may not consume enough sodium in their diet, and therefore may require additional sodium supplementation.

Magnesium serves as an electrolyte in the blood, as an activator of hundreds of enzymes, and as a participant in muscle contractions.

Calcium has important roles in muscle contraction, blood clotting, enzyme regulation and hormone release. Young, growing horses and exercising horses may need to be supplemented with more Calcium than an adult horse at rest.

Would you recommend this as a daily supplement even when the horse is not in rigorous training and competition? My horse is not a great drinker so I like to make sure he has enough salt in his diet and I like that it is a pellet.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Value!My horse isn't a huge fan of this product. I'm not sure though if that is just because it's an electrolyte though, or what. He will not eat a full serving, but I am hoping he will get used to it. I am thankful it comes in pellet form, because he hates syringes. Love the products and customer service from Santa Cruz Animal Health! I hope to be able to update this to 5 stars when my picky horse gets used to consuming electrolytes.

Only one would eat a little bit of it, but the other 2 wouldn't even try it. Not sure what it was that they didn't care for. I bought it because I really liked the idea of the single serve packets that would be easy to travel with. The packaging I would give 5 stars too...but not the product itself.

We decided to try the UltraCruz Equine Electrolyte Plus to help replenshish his electrolytes as well as to encourage him to rehydrate. This product is great! He ate the pellets easily in his food, and drank often through out the day at the rodeo. We are very please with the results!

Now I am ordering for hoof and skin care as well as daily oil supplement. I’m also ordering electrolyte in pellet form. When my horses performing, I can be assured they’re getting their electrolytes. By the way, their dog treats are awesome.

My guys get a daily serving and I'm confident they are drinking enough water to keep well-hydrated in this Virginia heat. The price is great and they like this much better than the powdered electrolyte I used to feed.

My horse really liked the product plus it was easy to carry and I really liked the fact that it was pre-measured. I will definitely be purchasing this product for our horses.

I stopped by their store in Weatherford and bought a back of electrolytes for her. She eats it very well and has been drinking well since starting on this.
