Pure Wheat Germ Oil Supplement for Horses - San Juan's Anjie Olena being ridden in the dirt

Wheat Germ Oil contains the long-chain fatty alcohol Octacosanol - a 28 carbon primary fatty alcohol that is commonly found in the waxes of plants, including most forages and cereal grasses. Wheat Germ Oil also contains high levels of Vitamin E to help support overall health.

Essential fatty acids are valued for their health benefits, but there must be a balance between the Omega-3s and the Omega-6s. Horses that do not have access to grass, which is higher in Omega-3 Fatty Acids, may be consuming too many Omega-6 Fatty Acids from their fortified grain.

For a more economical way to provide horses with the benefits of essential fatty acid supplementation, we suggest UltraCruz® Equine Pure Wheat Germ Oil Supplement for Horses. Thank you for inquiring with Santa Cruz Animal Health. According to the Composition Statement provided by the supplier the Wheat Germ Oil is 99.9% wheat germ oil and 0.1% Vitamin E.

Hi. Is this really 100% PURE Wheat Germ Oil, meaning no other oil added? Also, can you tell me how it is stored and how long ago, on average it was produced (time on shelf before purchase). Wheat Germ Oil goes rancid once opened if not refrigerated.

Hello! This is in fact 100% Pure Wheat Germ Oil. The shelf life is about 9 months from the manufacturing date, so the expiration would depend on the batch and when you purchase it. What is the detailed recommended usage for the Equine Pure wheat germ oil?

Hi, thanks for the question. The recommended usage is found under the "Instructions" tab: Dosage and Administration: Administer 1 oz per 400 lbs daily. For example, a 1000 lb horse should receive 2.5oz of Pure Wheat Germ Oil per day.

He allergy tested sensitive to flax and soy so this has been a great supplement for him that avoids adding any of those ingredients. Through increasing his work load he has increased his mass. Additionally he has had no change to his temperament. My vet and staff was impressed with the condition of his body and coat at his spring check up. I would recommend this to anyone wanting a palatable supplement for a horse that needs extra calories during a higher workload
