Canine osteoarthritis is a chronic degenerative disease that affects the bones and soft tissue of the joints.
Otherwise known as "dog arthritis", this condition can cause pain and decreased flexibility in dogs. Arthritis can affect any canine joint, though it occurs most frequently in the stifle (knee), elbow, carpus (wrist), hip and spine. Canine osteoarthritis can be caused by age, injury, and even developmental abnormalities in dogs and may lead to lameness, stiffness, and decreased activity. Currently, there is no cure for dog arthritis, but there is Previcox®.
Previcox® is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to manage pain and inflammation due to canine osteoarthritis. It is also used to control postoperative pain and inflammation associated with soft-tissue and orthopedic surgery in dogs. This product contains the active ingredient firocoxib and is formulated to inhibit cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), an enzyme that promotes inflammation and pain. By inhibiting COX-2, Previcox® helps alleviate pain and inflammation associated with dog arthritis to restore your dog's quality of life.
Safe use in pregnant, lactating or breeding dogs has not been evaluated. Not for use in dogs weighing less than 12.5 lbs.
