I bought these but they are HUGE, even though it's listed for goats/sheep, not cow. What bolus gun can I use to get down a Goat's throat? Is it possible to make them the sane size as a 4g copper bolus, in the future...?

We have cobalt blocks out for our goats. If we would give the cobalt bolus should we take the block out.

Asked by: Goatcrazy3
Hello! This UltraCruz Cobalt Bolus is made to be administered every 3 years. There is no need for additional cobalt added to the diet in a block form.

Hello, I'm wondering how often you have to administer the Cobalt Boluses to sheep and goats?

Asked by: Kitty19
Hello! Usually we recommend administration every 3 years, however in places that are very deficient, and under vet supervision, they may be given yearly. However, you should speak to a vet before supplementing.

How long do unused boluses last? I only have 5 breeding goats and want to buy this product but don't want to waste money if they go bad.

Asked by: Karrisa
Hello, Depending on when the product was manufactured, will depend on its expiration date. Each batch has about a 2 year shelf life. You may call to speak with a representative to verify the expiration date of the batches on hand, before ordering.

Is it safe to give these cobalt blouses to my goats at the same time as a copper bolus?

Asked by: Carol
Hi, thanks for the great question. Please consult with a veterinarian before administering both of these boluses at the same, but we have no evidence that it would cause a problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Improvement in my goatHave never used cobalt supplement. I live in Florida where parasites and deficiencies are the norm. I decided to add cobalt after talking to some breeders. My Spanish doe was being kept alive with B12 several times a week. She could stand, could not recover from prone position. I thought that she was hopeless, but gave her a Cobalt bolus. Ten days later, she is standing on three and a half legs. Today the fourth leg is touching and she is trying to straighten it to stand. A Miracle! I have given Cobalt bolus to every buck and doe on the farm. Strike one from the deficiencies of Florida goat farming.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Need additional sizesI think these would be excellent for my goats, but the bolus is just too big to administer to a Nigerian Dwarf easily. I would love to see these cobalt boluses in smaller sizes - something close to the size of the 2g copper bolus. Even the 4 gm copper boluses are a bit large and more difficult to administer than the 2 gm size. If I had to give multiple small boluses to get the correct dose it would still be easier than trying to get these large boluses in a small goat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from improved gains!I have long suspected a cobalt deficiency on our farm. Lambs were underperforming, and some lambs look emaciated/parasitized. When lambs responded to B12 injections I decided to try the slow release cobalt bolus. It worked! ewes and lambs are now in much better body condition, the scaly flakes on their ears cleared up, and the lambs gained more weight than the previous year. I hope Santa Cruz will consider carrying a bolus with Selenium, Cobalt, and Iodine in the future as this would be perfect for us.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works!I purchased this product after doing some extensive research about cobalt deficiencies and its effects on vitamin B in sheep and goats and cannot recommend this product enough! There have been significant changes in the flock overnight! This company also has amazing customer service. I called to inquire about purchasing the right balling gun to administer this product and the agent I had was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and did not try to sell me on anything that I didn’t need. We love this product and we will continue to order all things animal health related from this company.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cobalt is enablerAn immune system and vitamins and minerals work better when there is cobalt to increase their effectiveness. I have seen it in my goats. Keep track on you calender when it is time redose...move it from you to year...3 years is long time and can be forgotten easily.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great price, great results!I give one of these boluses to each of my adult dairy goats once a year to assist in keeping their rumens functioning and producing the Vit B12 they need. It helps keep my herd fertile and healthy. Before I found these boluses, I had to special order the cobalt salt blocks, which is hard to do in my area, no feed store wanted to deal with it. Plus, the blocks were easily soiled and wasted by the goats. The boluses are quick and easy to give, no mess, no waste, and I know each goat getting the dose they should.
