Vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin that functions as an antioxidant. It is often used to help performance horses that experience soreness, as well as horses that require antioxidant support. Vitamin E helps eliminate free radicals and prevent oxidative damage to tissues and it is also supports the proper function of nerves and muscles.

Vitamin E generally is supplied through green forage, though levels begin to diminish once pasture is cut for hay, and little is added to most concentrate feeds. Storage can further destroy some of the Vitamin E content of feed. What is an antioxidant?

As a horse rescue we need the most bang for our buck. We've been buying ultra cruz Vit E 4lb bag of powder, knowing 4000IU/serving but we want to know how the 25lb bag of pelletized Vitamin E differs from the 4 lg powdered version?

Has any bloodwork or research been done on this product to determine bio availability? I am very interested in using it but my vet prefers liquid form

From our personal use - not a study - my 16.3” National Show Horse with Shivers was tested as low. We tried human capsules but he’d spit those out. Adding this in resulted in his lab value increasing to well above the reference range (it’s nontoxic so not a health issue), which enabled us to actually use 1/4-1/2 dose for maintenance. Picky-eater approved. Highly recommend this product.

Hello, The 8,000 IUs refers to the recommended daily amount of 2 level scoops (68g) twice daily. Each scoop/serving will yield approximately 4,000 IUs bringing the total for the day to 8,000 IUs

I started her with a strong liquid E and as she tested higher I swapped to a powder. I loved the powder but after some time she stopped eating it.. leaving it in the bottom of her bowl. I decided it was time to find something new. She has been on this product for maybe a month now and she never leaves it behind, it honestly almost smells like cocoa powder haha, and my last few rides she seems happy and willing. She is a 20 y.o draft cross mare and we do dressage. Definitely will continue with the 2 scoops a day...plus the cost per day can't be beat for the potency!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very effective and easy to feedMy horses have been receiving 4000 IU (1 scoop) UltraCruz Equine Natural Vitamin E Plus supplement daily for over a year. This is half the dosage recommended by the manufacturer. It is a pelleted product which is very easy to feed and fairly economical. The horses have no access to pasture and no other source of natural vitamin E in their diets. I recently ran serum vitamin E levels on them. One horse was in mid normal range and the other was slightly above normal. Both horses had subnormal (one critically low) levels prior to beginning supplementation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great option to powder!When my horse was recuperating in a dry paddock from an injury, I wanted to make sure he did not become Vitamin E deficient. I tried powders first but he got picky about it and it ended up being a waste of money. So, I tried the UltraCruz Equine Natural Vitamin E Plus pellets. My horse gobbled them up like regular feed. I like how there is no added selenium, the IU is high, it's natural and stabilized. Vet and I were both extremely pleased on how he recovered Since then I have kept him on it - adjusting to a half dose in the spring/summer and back to the full dose when the round bales come out in the winter.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to feed!I bought this product a couple months ago after learning that horses get vitamin E from grass, and the longer hay sits after it’s baled, the E gets depleted. I live in the Midwest so my horses go 6 months without fresh grass during the winter. Well as it turns out, vitamin E is not something their bodies can make, it must be added in diet and it’s vital to having a healthy immune system, among lots of other things. With research, I selected this product over the many options available and have been very pleased. It’s extremely easy to feed with it being a pellet, and my horses all eat it without a fuss. Gives me peace of mind knowing this helps give them a complete diet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great ValueI purchased this for my horses to supplement their vitamin E intake as they do not have access to fresh pasture due to dietary restrictions, and even with high quality hay, they required additional vitamin E to meet their nutritional requirements. I've previously used a powdered brand of natural vitamin E but felt that there was a lot of waste with the powder sticking to the bottom of their feed buckets. I love being able to see that they're eating this natural vitamin E which has greater bioavailability, without any wasted powder (or money), and that I'm able to better support their muscular and immune health!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome supplement!I have been feeding the powdered version of this supplement but recently switched to the pelleted for ease of feeding and hopefully a more palatable supplement. My horses love it! My picky eater, who gets soaked grain for health reasons, usually just picks out the whole chunks of grain, and leaves the liquid and mash behind, but since adding this supplement he eats every last bite! He is also starting to fill out more and is in better condition since being on Santa Cruz vitamin E. It smells amazing too! I'm excited to see more results as they continue to eat it.

Every fall when the grass wasn’t as plentiful, he would lose so much weight and his muscles seemed to stiffen or harden. After 30 days on this product, it’s like he’s a new horse! I’ve also been able to cut back on his feed and hay, which I had to increase in the winter just to try and keep his weight up. I’m so happy I discovered this product!!

After much searching, high and low, I was suggested this company, and saw that Santa Cruz offered a pelleted version. Not only that, but 1 scoop provides 8,000iu of Vitamin E! That's a HUGE amount compared to any of the other options available. My horse only requires 4,000iu so the big bag lasts FOREVER! I will recommend 100% any time someone asks for a good vitamin E supplement for their horse!
