UltraCruz® Equine Selenium Supplement for Horses is an equine dietary supplement that provides organic Selenium, an important antioxidant and trace mineral for horses that helps provide the body with nerve, muscle and joint support. What is an antioxidant?

Antioxidants such as Vitamin C, Vitamin E and Selenium are substances that neutralize free radicals to support healthy tissues and organs on a cellular level. Antioxidant support is recommended for horses subject to rigorous exercise and may help to reduce the negative effects of oxidative stress.

What is a free radical?

Free radicals are highly reactive chemicals with the potential to cause damage to cells. Free radicals can be produced naturally by the body during times of heavy exercise.

For a comprehensive antioxidant formula, we suggest UltraCruz® Equine Selenium Supplement for Horses.

Selenium Deficiency Map

Selenium Supplement for Horses - Selenium deficiency map

While some parts of the country have high levels of Selenium in their soil and plants, Selenium deficiency has been reported in 46 states. Therefore, most horses require supplementation. Selenium Yeast, the organic form of the mineral, is better absorbed than inorganic Selenium Selenate or Selenite.

Grazing animals in areas with low Selenium levels in the soil are at risk of Selenium deficiency. Selenium deficiency can result in dysfunction of skeletal or cardiac muscles, cystic ovaries, retained fetal membranes, anoestrus, infertility, abortions or stillbirths. Levels of Selenium in a pasture vary throughout the year with lowest levels occurring in the spring and summer. UltraCruz® Equine Selenium Supplement for Horses helps to maintain healthy levels year round.
